Valuable Services in our Community

The Greater Trail Hospice Society is excited to offer the Nav-CARE program to the communities of Rossland, Warfield, Trail, Genelle, Montrose and Fruitvale!
Nav-CARE is a free-of-charge program offered by specially trained volunteers to regularly visit people living at home with declining health that is affecting their quality of life. Volunteers develop relationships with clients and have time to listen, support decision-making, assist clients with practical things and find community resources to meet evolving needs—with a goal to improve their quality of life.
This program is ideal for those experiencing loneliness or social isolation, recent loss, and mobility or sensory challenges. It is also ideal for people having difficulty identifying and accessing resources and making decisions or for those concerned about their caregiver’s fatigue.
If you know someone you think would be interested in having a Nav-CARE volunteer meet with them on a regular basis, please share the contact information about this program.
Does this program sound like a great way to give back to your community? Do you have 6-8 hours a month to volunteer? Let’s talk!
I’m available Monday to Thursday 9:00 - 1:00 Linda @ 250-368-7347 or trail.navcare@gmail.com
No Doctor or Nurse Practitioner referral needed, just call or email!

Mental Health Crew Talks Available

With the stresses of life these days, it is important that we keep our own mental health as well as the mental health of our families, friends and co-workers as a top priority.  We have all sorts of things being thrown at us. Pandemics, shutdowns, bargaining. Everyone should know the signs and symptoms to look for in ourselves and others, what we can do if we notice those signs and symptoms, and the resources available to navigate our way back to good health. You will hear real life stories from those who have suffered but have recovered. This 60-minute crew talk is a call to action. It is a reminder to be alert, to notice, to step up, and to never turn our backs.
If you are a supervisor and interested in booking this session for a crew talk or safety meeting, contact Gord at Gordon.menelaws@teck.com. If you are an employee who thinks this would be valuable information for yourself and your co-workers be sure to talk to your supervisor.  At this time the crew talk can be presented in person or through Teams.

Bounce Back for Youth

The Bounce Back Program from The Canadian Mental Health Association is a free skill-building program designed to help individuals (aged 15+) manage low mood, mild to moderate depression, anxiety, stress or worry. With the help of a Bounce Back Coach, you create a program that is going to work for you. Select from workbooks, activities, videos or work one on one with a trained coach over the phone. The choice is yours.
The campaign for youth is called #CelebrateEverydayVictories and it is helping youth bounce back from low mood, stress and anxiety.  Managing mental health can be difficult. Sometimes even getting through your typical day may seem like a struggle. So the small, everyday actions you take to get through the day are worth celebrating. The #CelebrateEverydayVictories campaign is about your small daily wins. It’s not about being the best, rather it’s about doing your best and listening to yourself. Our mental health experiences are different and so too are our daily victories. The Bounce Back coaches are committed to helping you identify and celebrate the small wins in your daily life.
